Sean Penn’s Son Hopper and 15 Other Celebrities Busted for Drugs

Posted on

Celebrities are just as vulnerable, if not more vulnerable, to getting busted by the police with drugs. Over the years many of them have succumbed to the temptations of celebrity life and gotten in a lot of trouble for it. Some were lucky enough to get a slap on the wrist, while others ended up having to do hard time.

Here’s what Sean Penn’s son Hopper (No. 13) and other celebrities like Bill Murray (No. 9) did to get in trouble with the law.

1. Matthew McConaughey

All was not alright, alright, alright for actor Matthew McConaughey in 1999 when he was arrested on suspicion of possession of marijuana. McConaughey was dancing nude outside his Texas home and playing bongos while another man clapped along when police were called to the scene, he recalled in an interview. After spending nine hours in a county jail, the Hollywood star was released on $1,000 bail and the charges were later dropped.

2. Cory Feldman

Charges of possession of marijuana, possession of a schedule IV substance (Xanax), possession of drug paraphernalia, speeding and driving with a suspended license were just a few of the charges dulled out to Cory Feldman and his friends.

One member of the group did have a legal California prescription for marijuana. Proof of a prescription for the Xanax could not be produced at the time of the arrest. Everyone paid their fines and left the incident with no more than misdemeanor charges. Feldman called it a classic “shakedown.”

3. Haley Joel Osment

Haley Joel Osment was very popular for seeing dead people, but his fame began to fade quickly after that. In 2006, Osment crashed his car into a brick pillar while he was intoxicated. He was later charged with being under the influence and in possession of marijuana.

4. Robert Downey Jr.

Before he was the Iron Man, Robert had a bit of a rough period with drugs and alcohol. In 1996 he was arrested for possession of heroin, cocaine and an unloaded firearm. He ended up violating his parole shortly after when he drunkenly passed out in his neighbor’s 11-year-old son’s bed. He was later charged again with failing to appear for his mandatory drug test and sentenced to three years. However, he turned his wild nineties around and has been sober since 2003.

5. Cameron Douglas

You are probably more familiar with Cameron’s father, Micheal Douglas, than you are with him. Cameron Douglas is best known for his multiple drug charges from outside and inside of a prison. In 2010, Cameron started serving a five-year sentence for heroin possession and selling methamphetamines. To add insult to injury, Cameron was charged again for smuggling drugs into the clink with the help of his lawyer. That tacked on an additional couple of years to his sentence years to his sentence.

6. Tim Allen

Tim Allen wasn’t always the tool man we all know and love. He was actually once a drug smuggler. In 1978, Allen was caught at the Kalamazoo International Airport transporting nearly two pounds of cocaine. He was found out by a drug-sniffing dog. Moving that kind of weight could have gotten Allen a life sentence behind bars. Instead, Allen agreed to a plea deal and he ratted out all of his drug-dealing buddies.

7. Artie Lange

Shock-Jock comic and co-host of the Howard Stern radio show, Artie Lange was arrested for possession of heroin, cocaine and drug paraphernalia. The arrest occurred on St Patricks Day of 2017 inside his parking garage in Hoboken New Jersey. The police found drugs on him and in his vehicle.

The charges were eventually dropped to disorderly persons which is like a misdemeanor drug charge. The reason is that the police couldn’t prove that the drugs in the car were his. It’s unclear why the charges of possession on his person were dismissed as well.

8. Jenna Morasca

On January 25, 2018, former Survivor winner, Jenna Morasca was found in her car unconscious in Pennsylvania. A passenger in the vehicle with her was found putting syringes in a plastic baggy away in her purse. Paramedics had to use Narcan on Morasca. Narcan is a drug used to revive heroin overdose victims.

Morasca was in the process of being transported to the hospital when she came around and became violent. The paramedics and officers tried to restrain her and she began biting at them. One officer was bitten on the arm. Morasca was arrested for drug paraphernalia.

9. Bill Murray

Did you know that Bill Murray was a pre-med student at Regis College in Denver? Did you know that he was expelled from that school for drug-related reasons? In 1970, Murray was arrested at Chicago O’hare airport for attempting to smuggle nearly 10 pounds of marijuana. Apparently, he was still honing his comedy craft when he joked to another passenger that he had two bombs in his suitcase. The ticketing agent didn’t think it was funny and reported Murray.

10. Jimi Hendrix

The man said to have played the Star Spangled Banner while tripping on LSD that he had soaked into his bandanna was busted with drugs … shocker. In 1969, Hendrix was getting off a plane in the Toronto International Airport where he was greeted by the Royal Mounted Canadien Police. He was subsequently searched and found in possession of six bags of a white powder that was allegedly heroin. Hendrix was eventually acquitted of the charges.

11. Jermaine Hopkins

If you ever saw the film Lean On Me, then you know who Hopkins is. Well, little Jermaine has grown up and gotten himself into a little trouble. Hopkins was pulled over for speeding in October of 2017. The police eventually searched his vehicle and found nearly six pounds of marijuana.

This isn’t his first run in either. He was also arrested in 2011 for marijuana-related charges. Hopkins had purchased nearly 200 pounds of marijuana from an undercover cop. He was sentenced to three years of probation for that charge.

12. Hopper Penn

You may have heard the news that Sean Penn’s son Hopper was arrested on April 5, 2018, in Aurora, Nebraska. Hooper Penn was arrested for being in possession of magic mushrooms and marijuana. He wasn’t alone in the incident either. Apparently, he was with actress Uma von Wittkamp when they were pulled over for failing to signal.

13. Louis Armstrong

In 1930, Louis Armstrong was playing at the famous Cotton Club in Los Angeles. That night, he and his drummer, Vic Berton, took a break to smoke some pot out back. Both Louis and Vic were arrested and sent to jail.Reportedly they were laughing the entire time.

It could have been from the marijuana or the fact that they knew nothing would come of it. This was during the time of prohibition and the cops during that time were notoriously corrupt. Armstrong and Berton were released without charge.

14. Macauley Culkin
