12. Heather Graham’s Parents Weren’t Supportive Of ‘Boogie Nights’
Heather Graham is reported to have cut her parents out of her life because they were not supportive of her role in the 1997 film, Boogie Nights. It was this role that caused a rift between the actress and her parents, and Fame10 reports that this was because, according to Graham, they deemed the script to be “inappropriate”.
Graham’s father, Jim Graham, has spoken about his relationship with his daughter in an interview with The Sun, in which he reportedly said: “Every time we read these supposed reasons for why we are not part of Heather’s life, it gets more and more frustrating as they are simply not true. The Hollywood scene is so treacherous – it has ruined our family.” He added that they did go and see the film, and although it “wasn’t [their] thing” they were proud of the part that she played.
According to The Sun, Jim continued: “Time and time again we read in anything written about Heather that she was brought up in this ‘strict Catholic home’ and that’s just wrong… We’ve even seen writers claim we wanted Heather to be a nun. It’s just not true; we didn’t even send the girls to a Catholic school! Up until Boogie Nights, we were a close, happy family. Then the movie came out and everything changed. It is safe to say that movie destroyed our relationship – that film is the anniversary of when Heather decided to take a break from us.”
11. Ariel Winter Filed A Restraining Order Against Her Mama
According to People magazine, in 2012, Modern Family actress Ariel Winter’s older sister, Shanelle Gray, received custody of Ariel after the after the Department of Children and Family Services found that her mother, Crystal Workman, had not been treating her right. Then in 2015, Winter was emancipated from her mother.
Two years later, she spoke about her upbringing with The Hollywood Reporter, accusing her mother of restricting her diet and claiming that she made her wear inappropriate outfits with low hemlines and plunging necklines when she was just a young girl.
Ariel claimed that people thought she was a lot older than her years due to her mother’s ‘fashion’ influence: “People thought I was 24 when I was 12.”
In 2017, Workman spoke about her daughter in an interview with Inside Edition, and criticized Winter’s clothing choices, saying, “I just want to see her have respect for herself and have some class.” She added, “I feel that Ariel is starving for attention. I feel this is a cry [for] help from my child.”
In the same interview, Workman also denied the allegations that Winter made about her, telling the outlet she wanted to reconcile. She said, “It’s time to fix your relationship with your mom. Every girl needs her mom and every mom needs her daughter.”
